Must try harder

Not doing so good on the resolutions. I've already been in hospital having X-rays for a broken knee cap. I can't walk very well. Therefore I can't do anything with my poor neglected garden. It hurts to sit for long periods, so writing is tough. I could lie down and watch a movie, but of course I fall asleep.

Still, at least I spoke my mind when I was skittled onto concrete by a thug who clearly took the laser game too seriously.

Anyone else flunked out on the self-imposed regimes that January brings?

Ouch! That doesn't sound too clever. Hope you're better and soon.

Hey Nik, Happy New Year to you! It is still very much ouch, but at least not broken. It'll teach me to play with guns. Laser ones. In the dark. With kids who think they've been air-lifted into Vietnam.

Hi Leon, I'm fine thanks (apart from knee) - I will stop by your blog. Hope 2009 is good for you and thanks for visiting!

There's probably a moral about guns in there somewhere, isn't there? Or playing in the dark. Or knee caps. Or something. Doesn't half sound painful.

As far as flunking goes, well I've not done any exercise yet and I've still a tendency to be grumpy! ;)

Hi, Sam. Commiserations. My main resolution is about cutting down on chocolate, as it is every year. I've only had one muffin today. Although there are some nice chocolate biscuits in the cupboard. Hmm... sorry, have to go.

I'm glad it's not broken, but sorry it's causing you pain!

Definitely a moral in there somewhere, Nik! And it's given me what I need for new novel. Depersonalisation - the kids who skittled me gathered around me in their balaclavas, while I was rolling about in agony on the floor. They continued shooting me, rather enjoying themselves. They couldn't see me, didn't know me, formed a pack...

Ugh. Exercise. And you're allowed to be grumpy if you want!

Oh Neil, you're just going to have to accept that chocolate is a part of life. Why not treat yourself to exquisite Swiss chocolate once in a while? Then again, there's nothing wrong with a chocolate Hobnob. Or a whole packet, even.

Thanks, Michelle. Yes, I was dreading a cast. It's a rather odd shade of yellow-green now!
